Privacy Protection

Hi, it's been a long time since I last blogged about something. Since summer started, I became busy with the review center since I really want to pass the UPCAT (prays). I was also busy with our Blob Television videos ( www.YouTube.com/blobtelevision ) so I had no time for this blog at all and I also had nothing to complain about since there was no school yet. So here it goes!

Just recently a friend of mine posted on Facebook...

"When June 14 comes. I should obliviate myself ever having this account and never ever try to use it again. I hate the new ** rule. They're actually not aware that they are violating Rights to Privacy and the Constitution. Man! Why did I have to throw that booklet away! I will just use this once I'm in safe grounds and for notif purposes and events but not for expression anymore"

Just to makes things clearer, his school apparently has a new rule where you are "said to be" required to open your facebook account in-front of your teacher so he/she can browse your posts and give you "Incident Reports" if they find any malicious words or pictures. I'm pretty sure the teachers just want to keep the school's image very Christian-like specially when the students are wearing that school badge, proclaiming they're Christians studying in a Christian school. Since we students don't add our teachers up on Facebook, they probably decided to just browse your profile by force since the word "REQUIRED" is mentioned.

I was browsing through the net looking for laws re: the privacy law and this is what I found "
It is found in Article III Sec 2 of the 1987 Constitution:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures of whatever nature and for any purpose shall be inviolable, and no search warrant or warrant of arrest shall issue except upon probable cause to be determined personally by the judge after examination under oath or affirmation of the complaianant and the witnesses he may produce, and particulary describing the palce to be searched and the persons or things to be seized."

Okay, I don't know about you, but this sounds seriously illegal. As much as I want to be really biased right now, I cant because I have to tell both sides of the story. Unfortunately, I cannot find any thing good about random teachers searching your personal facebook page.

Apparently, some schools are also banning students from even using Facebook! So there are worse things out there. Let's enjoy this rule while it's not that bad yet. For now, find ways on how to protect your account.

Cheers!

  5. wow this is so un-chistian. this is a clear violation of the natural law. as a (supposedly) christian school they should be the ones who should know this better. they're using facebook in a wrong and negative way. hope this rule will not be implemented.

but then, even if they do implement it, submit to the authority. ingat nalang, :)
